The university's Hoa Lac campus is designed to become a smart urban area with modern and green infrastructure. It is expected to boost the educational and research quality of the National University of Vietnam - Hanoi in the near future.

In the new academic year, the campus accomodates 1,500 students of the Vietnam National University – Hanoi’s campus, including the VNU University of Education, the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, the Vietnam-Japan University, and the VNU International School.

Speaking at the ceremony, Permanent Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man said that the Vietnam National University – Hanoi is one of the best universities in the region and the world.

The university's high-quality training system and good incentives have motivated students and teachers to adapt to the digital transformation revolution, increase their adaptability and develop highly applicable solutions, he said.

The success of the Vietnam National University – Hanoi and others have paved the way for the Vietnamese education sector to reform under the guidance of the Party and the State, Man said.

The Vice President of the National Assembly hopes that students, with their youth and energy, will cultivate their ideas and desires, realize their dreams and contribute to socio-economic development.

Scientists, teachers and managers of the Vietnam National University - Hanoi have to do their utmost to overcome difficulties and take advantage of all necessary resources to develop the Hoa Lac campus, improving students' living and learning conditions, he urged.

“We need a smart, sustainable campus that pools together creative ideas, innovations and preserves traditional characteristics of the nation to further develop the city,” the vice chairman said.

Le Quan, President of Vietnam National University - Hanoi, said the Hoa Lac campus will be able to accommodate about 25,000 students by 2025 and will be more spacious for learning and research.

The new facilities will also enable the university to strengthen its status, save hundreds of billions of dongs each year on building rents and allow for more scientific research, he said.

“With the new space, the Vietnam National University – Hanoi will sustain its growth and meet the demand of the Party, the State and the people to become a top-class hub of knowledge,” Quan said.

The construction of the Hoa Lac campus of the Vietnam National University – Hanoi in Thach That District was approved in 2003 with total area of more than 1,100 hectares.

On May 19, 2022, the university moved its head offices to Hoa Lac in the hope that the new facilities will usher in a new era of development.

The Vietnam National University – Hanoi is now the school for a total of 60,000 students and lecturers from the three major schools, which are the VNU University of Science, the VNU University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and the VNU University of Languages and International Studies.

At the opening ceremony, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Tran Thanh Man awarded prizes to 12 valedictorians who scored best in the entrance examination to 12 subordinate universities of Vietnam National University - Hanoi.
