The first ten-o’clock flower road in Hanoi
Many towns in Phu Xuyen prefecture (Hanoi’s suburb area) create ten-o’clock flower corridor of kms, catching the bypasses’ eyes.
Phu Xuyen prefecture's authority has piloted the project since 2016 at Nam Trieu commune and Tri Trung commune, with the aim to create a beauty destination. Until 2017, the campaign spreaded to more than 10 communes of Hong Minh, Hoang Long, Phu Yen, Khai Thai… Besides ten-o’clock flower, the local residents also plant other flashy and graceful flowerage to adorn the corridor. The flower corridors at Hanoi’s suburb not only create green space but also contribute to avoid traffic zone encroachment. With the flower corridor ’s appearance, numerous household nearby the main road start to transform their garden into flower zone.

At Khai Thai commune, the one-km-road of ten-o’clock flower finished 2 months ago has blossomed, beautifying the center road.

Initially, District government supported partially in regard to flower seed. Then, the residents reproceduce the plants themselves to broaden the flower zone’s scale.

Local Youth Union, Veteran Association and Women association have responsibility to take care of the corridors.

Hồng Thanh, Youth Union’s Secretary of Khai Thai kindergarten said, twice in a month, the Union carrys out weeding, leave collecting to ensure those flowers well-develop.

Thoa, member of Women Association of Vinh Thuong hamlet shared, with the effort of the Association, the gravel road turned into fertilize one, ready to become a flower zone. After just 2 months, flowers planted here develop fast and form the real ten-o’clock corridor.

Despite the difficulties while creating the corridor, the resident feel in high spirit with the vivid bloom here. “One resident coming back from the South region was impressed so much with the garden”, Thoa added
