Taking Hanoi's products to the world
Hanoi has been stepping up effort in facilitating its products export to international markets, according to the Director of Hanoi Promotion Agency Nguyen Gia Phuong.
In 2017, Hanoi's export value reached US$11.542 billion, up 8% compared to 2016, surpassing the target set by the Hanoi People's Committee and Hanoi People's Council, following the General Statistics Office's report.
This growth rate is result of enterprises taking advantages from the recovery of major economies, which are also seen as major export markets of Vietnam such as the US, Japan, European Union (EU) and China.
Along with continuous efforts from all departments and agencies in Hanoi, the city has implemented specific and consistent measures to support export activities. In 2017, Hanoi has issued series of plans and proposals, especially the plan No. 89 including 10 measures to support enterprises overcoming difficulties, maintaining and expanding export markets.
In addition to the improvements of knowledge on global integration, free trade agreements (FTAs), and opportunities from mergers & acquisitions (M&A) activities, with a view to support enterprises expanding export markets and promoting brands, Hanoi has been holding its own promotion through the participation of large scale international trade fairs, such as: Thailand Manufacturing Expo 2017, Mechanical Components & Materials Technology Expo (M-Tech) Japan 2017, Vietnam's Goods week in Italy and Philippines; China Beijing International Gifts, Premium and Houseware Exhibition.
At the M-Tech in Japan, over 400 visitors have shown interests in Hanoi's products, while some local enterprises have agreed to become representatives of Hanoi's enterprises in Japan.
Companies such as Hikaki Production and Commerce, Hai Phuong, Binh Minh Construction, Mechanical and Commerce, Thang Long Mechanics have signed orders with Japanese partners for value in range from US$25,000 - US$70,000 per month, said the Vice Director of HPA Nguyen Thi Mai Anh.
Hanoi's trade promotion activities have been supporting enterprises in saving time and expenses to meet and search of partners, which has proved its efficiency in long term, stressed the Chairman of Boards of Viet-Tiep Lock Luong Van Thang.
Recently, Hanoi Trade & Industry Department in collaboration with the Ministry of Trade & Industry have supported Vietnamese enterprises to access large distributors in Europe and Asia, such as Auchan, Casino, Central Group, AEON.
Moreover, Hanoi will continue to give its assistance to enterprises in tapping in major distribution networks in many countries.
In 2018, HPA will expand its connectivity to include products of Hanoi's enterprises in the distribution chain of major corporations, establishing databases on export markets, and setting up appropriate strategic plan.
