The Vietnamese online booth, an initiative from the Vietnam’s trade ministry to boost domestic consumption, could be a viable option for enterprises to access the market via a modern distribution channel.

A network of Vietnamese talents around the world would help speed up the research and development of new technologies and applications in Vietnam, said a senior government official.

Enterprises joining the event would have chances to sell their products on e-commerce platforms such as Sendo, Tiki, Voso, among others.

Following the hottest M&A retail deal of Vingroup and Masan in early 2020, the merger of Tiki and Sendo is expected to make the competition in e-commerce industry fiercer.

Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City would make up half of the country’s e-commerce revenues in the next five years.

Over the past five years, the country’s e-commerce market has doubled with total online spending increasing from US$3.9 billion in 2015 to US$9.4 billion in 2019.

The merging would create a stronger firm capable of rivaling regional players such as Lazada and Shopee in Vietnam’s retail market.

The digital sector is expected to contribute 30% to Vietnam's economy by 2030.
