Hundreds of students from Laos and Cambodia joined with Vietnamese students in HCM City on January 18 and rolled up their sleeves to donate in excess of 150 units of blood in the lead up to the Lunar New Year (Tet) holiday.

Lao student Khennavong Phonesoulinh, 28, said this was the first time ever that he has donated blood and he was moved to see so many young people reaching out in such an important and creative way.

Phonesoulinh said he now plans to participate in future blood drives in the city.

Pham Thi Phuong Thao, 21, from the University of Saigon shared that the participation of so many students from Laos and Cambodia touched her heart and made this year’s drive very special to her.
