By Bach Nhat 18:13, 2014/10/09
A Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) delegation led by Deputy Minister Truong Minh Tuan is wrapping up a four-day visit to the Czech Republic aimed at boosting cooperation in the communications sector.

During the visit from 6-9, the delegation held talks with the Ministry of Culture of the Czech Republic in Prague on October 6.

Tuan briefed the host on the development of the press in Vietnam and expressed his desire to share experiences in management of press, radio and television broadcasting in addition to television copyrights and advertising on radio and TV.

The two sides discussed cooperation potential in human resource training and exchange of reporters.

They agreed to compare notes on state management on press, radio and television broadcasting and encourage information and communications businesses from two countries to boost cooperation.

Tuan also worked with Director of Kenh Viet Company Mai Quy Tuy on transmitting Vietnam’s TV channels to the Czech Republic to serve the Overseas Vietnamese (OVs) community.

Tuy asked the MIC to authorise its subsidiary agency to supply TV channels to the Czech Republic in an official and stable manner.

On October 8, Tuan met with the Executive Board of the Vietnamese People Association in the Czech Republic and representatives from local press agencies at Sapa Commercial Centre in Prague to report on current situation in the East Sea.

He underscored Vietnam’s stance on handling disputes at East Sea by peaceful solutions in accordance with the United Nations Charter, the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS), the Declaration on the Conduct of Parties in the East Sea (DOC) between ASEAN and China and the Law of the Sea of Vietnam.

He also answered local media workers’ questions on issues related to Hoang Sa (Paracel), Truong Sa (Spartly) and the East Sea.
