Six Vietnamese billionaires have a combined wealth of $13.3 billion: Forbes

Forbes updates the list of the richest billionaires in Vietnam in 2023.

As of 6 pm on January 1, 2024, the total wealth of Vietnam's six billionaires reached US$13.3 billion, according to Forbes' update.

Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, CEO of Vietjet Air, is the only woman on the list.

Forbes data showed that Pham Nhat Vuong, owner of Vingroup, Vietnam's largest private conglomerate, currently has a net worth of US$4.7 billion. Vuong holds 691.27 million shares of Vingroup's VIC, or about 18% of the company's charter capital.

In 2023, he also transferred 50.8 million VIC shares to Green and Smart Mobility Company (GSM), the operator of the Xanh SM taxi service. VinFast, the automotive arm of Vingroup, was successfully listed on the Nasdaq stock exchange. At the end of the year, Vuong ranked as the 636th richest person in the world.

Second on the list was Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, CEO of Vietjet Air, with a total wealth of $2.4 billion.

Tran Dinh Long, chairman of the Hoa Phat Group, follows Phuong Thao on the list of Vietnam's billionaires. Forbes listed his net worth at $2.3 billion.

By the end of 2023, Hoa Phat Group's HPG shares reached a price of VND28,000 apiece, an increase of 55% in one year.

According to the 2023 list, other richest Vietnamese are Tran Ba Duong, chairman of Truong Hai Group Corporation (Thaco), with a net worth of $1.5 billion; Ho Hung Anh, chairman of Techcombank, with a value of $1.4 billion; and Nguyen Dang Quang, chairman of Masan Group, with a value of $1 billion.
