Seven top Vietnamese universities enter Asia’s best list
Compared with the QS Asia 2018, two Vietnamese universities made significant progress.
Seven Vietnamese universities have been named in the 2019 list of the 505 top universities in Asia compiled by the London-based education consultancy Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) under the UK education institute.
Accordingly, the seven Vietnamese universities are Vietnam National University, Hanoi ranking 124th, Vietnam National University, HCM City ranking 144th, Hanoi University of Science and Technology ranking in the group of 261st-270th, Ton Duc Thang University ranking in the group of 291st-300th, Can Tho University ranking in the group of 351st-400th, Da Nang University and Hue University in the group of 451st-500th.
Compared with the QS Asia 2018, two Vietnamese universities made significant progress. Vietnam National University, Hanoi maintained its position as Vietnam’s best university and rose 15 spots from last year. The Hanoi University of Science and Technology also rose by 30 places.
Meanwhile, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City slipped two spots compared with last year while Can Tho University moved from the group of 301st-350th to the group of 351st-400th. Hue University and Da Nang University also fell behind.
Ton Duc Thang University is one of 92 new ones appeared on the list for the first time and ranked in the group of 291st-300th.
To measure excellence among Asian universities, QS rankings are based on the following indicators to compare institutions, including employer reputation, scientist reputation, faculty-student ratio; the proportion of lecturers with doctoral degrees, number of articles and citations by Scopus database, proportion of international lecturers and students, Vietnamese and international students exchange, international research network with a weight of 10%.
