The second Asian-Pacific Poetry Festival took place at the Kinh Bac Culture Centre in the River Delta province of Bac Ninh on March 4 with the participation of more than 200 authors from 43 countries.
The festival, which is part of the third international conference on promoting Vietnamese literature, was held in an effort to introduce Vietnamese poetry to international friends.
Addressing the event, Nguyen Tu Quynh, vice chairman of Bac Ninh’s People’s Committee, said in Vietnam, poetry plays an important role in life, encouraging the creative spirit among people. He added that this is a good chance for local and international writers to exchange their views.
Throughout the event, many local and foreign poets recited their poems honouring the beauty of nature and human life.
The delegates also had a chance to enjoy Bac Ninh’s unique folk art, the Quan Ho (love duet singing), which has been recognised part of the world intangible culture heritage.
Similar events as part of the Second Asian-Pacific Poetry Festival are also being organized in Hanoi and the northern province of Quang Ninh from March 1-7.
