Sa Pa Love Market to be reappeared at Spring Festival 2016
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said that numerous cultural and artistic activities will be held in the framework of Lunar New Year festival 2016, which is taking place from January 20 (the 11th of the 12th lunar month) at the Vietnam Exhibition, Culture and Art Centre, 2 Hoa Lu street, Hanoi city.
According to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the festival will bring quality products and specialties of enterprises and localities across the country to the public.
The festival which will last until February 5 (the 27th of the 12th lunar month) features various cultural activities to welcome the coming lunar year, the Year of the Monkey.
A highlight of the festival will be the 2016 Fine Arts Exhibition introducing works of 19 outstanding painters and sculptors. The artworks made from various materials such as pottery, lacquer, oil and acrylic will bring visitors the emotions of Vietnamese spring and people.
The festival will also organise a traditional market of the northern Lao Cai province which showcases the mountainous region's agricultural products, ethnic costumes and food.
At the Lao Cai's traditional market, the processes of making embroidered cloth, tea, wine and traditional food will be introduced. Participants will also have the chance to enjoy tea from 20 famous tea brands of the northwest region and traditional dishes of ethnic groups such as black chung cake, five-colour glutinous rice.
In addition, special cultural activities such as typical dances, rituals and folk games of Sa Pa Love Market, Bac Ha Market, Muong Khuong Market (Lao Cai province) and Khau Vai Love Market (Ha Giang province) will be performed at the festival.
The Spring Festival 2016 will include art performances themed the Spring and the Party with the participation of major art troupes and theatres in the country, such as the Vietnam National Song, Dance and Music Theatre, Tuoi Tre Theatre, Vietnam National Opera Ballet, and the Viet Bac Traditional Song, Dance and Music Theatre, among others.
The festival will organise an exchange programme between enterprises in Hanoi, managers, overseas Vietnamese and ethnic groups with the aim of finding ways to boost the strength of mountainous regions for tourism.
