First trip of The Royal New Zealand Navy Ship, TE KAHA to Vietnam becomes an unforgettable experience.
The Royal New Zealand Navy Ship, TE KAHA with a complement of 178 naval personnel arrived at Tien Sa Port in Da Nang, Vietnam city on 12 April.
Her four day visit in Vietnam was part of a wider Asia tour. HMNZS (Her Majesty's New Zealand Ship) Te Kaha’s visit demonstrates the growing strength of the New Zealand-Viet Nam defence relationship, following on from the visit of the New Zealand Chief of Army, Major General Peter Kelly, to Viet Nam last week.
Besides joint activity with the Vietnam Peoples’ Navy, members of the Royal New Zealand Navy ship Te Kaha crew members were also involved in community activities onshore. Footage of those activites are in video clips below:

HMNZS Te Kaha crew members were delighted to learn soccer from Da Nang Phan Chau Trinh High School students. In return, they taught the students how to play rugby. It’s safe to say that all of the students, men and female, will become pro rugby players one day, if they keep practicing.

The Te Kaha crew members also took part in painting and renovating a local foundation. Our Ambassador Wendy Matthews also joined the group at Kianh Foundation.
