Quang Nam's Cua Dai bridge and coastal road open to traffic
The central province of Quang Nam held a ceremony to inaugurate the Cua Dai bridge spanning the Thu Bon River and a coastal road on March 27.
Attending the event were National Assembly (NA) Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, representatives of ministries, Central agencies and provinces in the central region.
Addressing the inauguration ceremony, NA Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung stressed that Quang Nam province has the huge potentials, especially in recent years, the locality has promoted its economic development, and has gained remarkable achievements.
The Cua Dai bridge and the coastal road play significant roles to local socio-economic development, the Chairman said.
Chairman Hung urged Quang Nam to make full use of its advantages to boost the maritime economy, and build high-tech, environmentally friendly agricultural practices as well as upgradei its transport infrastructure to lure more investors.
Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Dinh Van Thu said the two projects help shorten the route between Quang Nam’s Tam Ky city and Da Nang city, and reduce ease traffic jam on National Highway 1A.
The Cua Dai bridge is also expected to facilitate the use of 40,000 hectares of uncultivated land in the province’s southeastern region and support another project on natural disaster adaptation, Thu added.
The Cua Dai bridge started its construction in August 2009 at the total cost of 3,450 billion VND.
The bridge, measuring 25.5 m in width and 1.48 km in length, links Hoi An city with Duy Xuyen and Thang Binh districts.
Meanwhile, the 24.5 km coastal road runs from Duy Xuyen district to Tam Ky city and was built at a cost of 1,440 billion VND.
