At the meeting in Hanoi, the PM praised the diplomat for his contributions to boosting relations between Vietnam and Cambodia across many fields, ranging from economy and trade to culture, education, national defence and security. He suggested the two countries coordinate with each other to promptly complete border demarcation and marker planting, and build a shared border of peace, cooperation and development.

He called for active co-operation between the two sides in the future to accomplish demarcation, towards building a borderline of peace, co-operation and development. The PM also asked the Cambodian side to create favorable conditions for the Vietnamese community living and working in the country. PM Phuc expressed his belief that Mr Hul Phany, in his new future positions, would make continuous contributions to fostering and developing the Viet Nam-Cambodia traditional friendly relations and all-round co-operation.

The host called on the two sides to raise the sense of vigilance against hostile forces who aim to sabotage the sound bilateral relationship, while maintaining the friendship and solidarity between the two countries’ people. He noted his hope that the ambassador, in any position, will further contribute to consolidating and developing the relationship.

For his part, Ambassador Hul Phany applauded Vietnam’s outstanding performance in all realms, especially in infrastructure. Cambodia attaches importance to and wishes to work together with Vietnam to strengthen the friendship and fruitful cooperation, he said, pledging to continue fostering bilateral ties.

Ambassador Hul Phany thanked the Vietnamese Party and State and PM Phuc in particular for providing him with the most favorable conditions to well fulfill his working term in Vietnam. Cambodia always treasures and wishes to boost the fine friendly relations and co-operation with Viet Nam, Mr Hul Phany said, affirming that he would  continue efforts in the future to accelerate the relationship between the two countries.

Recalling the huge sacrifices of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers to freeing Cambodia from the genocide in the past, Mr Hul Phany noted that the Cambodian side would participate in celebrations commemorating the fallen Vietnamese soldiers on the upcoming War Invalids and Fallen Soldiers’ Day of Vietnam (July 27).

The same progressive cooperation trend has been seen in other fields, including education-training, telecommunications, agro-forest-fishery, tourism, finance and banking, healthcare, aviation, energy and oil and gas. The two sides agreed to accelerate border demarcation and border marker planting in order to ensure peace, security and bilateral cooperation in border areas. They also agreed to continue working closely on searching for and collecting the remains of Vietnamese martyrs who lost their lives during the war in Cambodia.

On behalf of the Cambodian government, Ambassador Hul Phany expressed gratitude to the fallen Vietnamese soldiers for the sacrifices they made and extended his best wishes to their families and relatives. The traditional friendly relations and multi-faceted co-operation between Viet Nam and Cambodia will continue to be strengthened in the years ahead for the benefits of both countries’ people as well as for peace, stability and development in the region and around the world.
