Editor in chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper Le Quoc Minh stressed the view at a forum titled “The partnership between the press and businesses for a prosperous Vietnam” today [June 29].

“During the pandemic when   unverified and fake news are being spread rampantly, official and credible information provided by the press has been guiding the businesses forward,” he continued.

"Such a relationship has also been reflected through the partnership between the press and companies in brand building or product advertising," said Minh.

Minh expected the press to continue serving as a bridge between the business community and the authorities,  helping businesses in  public relations, and eventually contribute to sustainable economic development for a prosperous Vietnam.

Journalist Nguyen Hong Hanh from the Vietnam News Agency noted as the world is moving to a digital economy, businesses and the press are in favorable conditions to adopt technologies for greater efficiency in operation.

“The effective cooperation between the press and businesses in digital technologies would contribute to the success of the national digital transformation drive, and  realize the goal of forming digital Government, digital economy and society,” Hanh said.

Amid the prevalence of social networks, Hanh also called for the press to uphold their role by providing accurate and verified information.

In this context, Hanh expected to have a working mechanism for businesses and Government agencies in providing information for press agencies.

“Violations of the Press Law that cause damage to businesses should lead to strict punishment,” Hanh added, calling for the press-businesses relationship to be built on mutual trust and benefits.

Sharing the view, Secretary-general of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Tran Thi Lan Anh expected the press to continue providing truthful and objective information to ensure a healthy and competitive business environment.

"The press should further promote the formation of a modern and effective business culture among local businesses in this era of global integration," Anh said.
