President Sang received ingoing and outgoing Ambassadors
On January 14, State President Truong Tan Sang hosted separate receptions for newly-accredited and outgoing ambassadors in Hanoi.
Receiving outgoing Indonesian Ambassador Mayerfas, President Sang extended his condolences to the Indonesian people over the losses caused by terror attacks on the day. He stressed that Vietnam condemns terror acts and believes Indonesia would overcome this difficult time.
Ambassador Mayerfas thanked the President for his instructions to Vietnamese relevant ministries and agencies in strengthening the bilateral strategic partnership. He informed the host that the Indonesian President will soon pay a visit to Vietnam.
At a reception for outgoing Malaysian Ambassador Azmil Bin Mohd Zabidi, President Sang highly valued the country’s role as the ASEAN’s Chair in 2015, contributing to the establishment of the ASEAN Community. The host expressed his hope that Malaysia will further develop and beef up ties with Vietnam, for the benefits of both countries.
The Ambassador briefed President Sang on the outcomes of bilateral cooperation between the two countries, adding that Malaysia has become one of the leading investors to the country.
At the meeting with outgoing Filipino Ambassador Jerri Santos, President Sang hailed the Philippines’ economic and trade cooperation as well as its stance on the East Sea issue. Vietnam stands ready to share experience with the Philippines and overcome common challenges, he noted. Ambassador Santos pledged to continue working with Vietnam to settle the matters related to the East Sea.
At the reception for Kuwait’s newly appointed Ambassador Adnan Al-Ahmad, President Sang said the countries need to fully tap each other’s strength. He welcomed Kuwait’s cooperation initiatives and expressed his belief that businesses would step up cooperative ties to match with their potentials.
The ambassador, for his part, noted that more and more Kuwaiti investors are interested in Vietnam as the Nghi Son oil refinery project has proved a fresh start for the next level of cooperation between the two nations.
After presenting his credentials to the President, German Ambassador Christian Berger talked about issues that have drawn the attention from Germany’s top leaders, including the organisation of dialogues on the state of the rule of law and cooperation in vocational training.
President Sang said Vietnam welcomes German businesses’ investments as well as their vocational training programmes to improve the quality of human resources in the country.He also lauded the plan to set up the Vietnam-Germany Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
