** Meeting with Australian Ambassador Craig Chittick, President Quang said Australia is one of the leading trade and investment partners of Vietnam and bilateral cooperation in defence-security, education-training, tourism and labour is thriving.

The President hailed Australian businesses for actively contributing to Vietnam’s socio-economic development, especially in the fields of banking, oil and gas, construction, light industry, processing industry and services.

** Greeting Belarusian Ambassador Anatolievich Goshin, he said the two countries should work to increase bilateral trade to 500 million USD as agreed by their leaders.

He said Vietnam will provide favourable conditions for the establishment of an automobile manufacturing joint venture in the country and help Belarus make inroads into other ASEAN member states.

Vietnam wants further collaboration with Belarus in economics, trade, defence, security, and crime prevention as well, he stressed.

** During a reception for Swedish Ambassador Pereric Hogberg, President Quang said Sweden was among the first foreign countries to support Vietnam in the Doi Moi (renewal) process.

With the long-standing friendship and advantages from the Vietnam – EU Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA), the bilateral trade and investment is expected to grow in the coming time, he noted.

He welcomes the Swedish Government to encourage businesses to invest in Vietnam , especially in the fields of green technology, processing industry, energy, infrastructure, health care, information technology, and marine economy.

Vietnam and Cambodia have fulfilled about 83 percent of the goals they set in the Treaty on the Delimitation of National Boundaries in 1985 and a Supplementary Treaty in 2005. Both sides discussed how to address shortcomings such as implementing bilateral treaties and agreements on boundary delimitation and territory, and inviting international experts to consult.

They also discussed how to stabilise the lives of residents of the Mekong Delta province of Long An and the Central Highland province of Dak Lak, in areas sharing boders with Cambodia. They agreed to accelerate the construction of auxiliary border markers and complete profiles on border demarcation. The two sides expressed delight at the quite stable border between the two countries.

** At a meeting with Singaporean Ambassador Catherine Wong Siow Ping, the President thanked the Singaporean Government for its valuable assistance to Vietnam in economic development. He reiterated Vietnam’s consistent policy of enhancing strategic partnership with Singapore.

The new ambassadors expressed their confidence to fulfill their missions, contributing to expanding friendship and cooperation with Vietnam. Relations among localities and people in border areas continue to be reinforced in the spirit of building “good neighbourliness, traditional friendship, and comprehensive, sustainable and long-term cooperation”.

Both nations have maintained regular delegation exchanges while economic collaboration in the border areas has been strengthened.

At the meeting, participants also raised problems in border management work. The Vietnamese delegation head clarified the country’s policy and standpoint in the field.

While awaiting the completion of the border demarcation, Vietnam and Cambodia agreed to continue implementing border management in accordance with the 1983 agreement on regulating border management and a joint press communiqué in 1995.

The agreement stresses that the two nations will not change or remove border markers while waiting for the settlement of existing problems in the field. It also highlights the need to raise people’s awareness of cooperation to maintain order and security in border areas.

On the occasion, the Vietnamese delegation head paid a courtesy visit to Prak Sokhonn, Senior Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

The Ambassadors highly appreciated the achievements of the Party, State and People of Vietnam in the construction, protection and development of the country. With the support and close cooperation and effectiveness of the Foreign Ministry and the concerned agencies in Vietnam, the Ambassadors believe that they will fulfill the assigned tasks, thus contributing to strengthening and expanding relations, friendship and cooperation between countries with Vietnam.
