PM tells voters of nation's achievements and goals
14:16, 2014/12/15
The nation made comprehensive achievements in all realms despite socio-economic difficulties, natural disasters and disease, thanks to the leadership of the Party and joint efforts of the political system, people and army, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung told voters in the northern port city of Hai Phong`s An Lao District yesterday.
In addition to maintaining macroeconomic stability, curbing inflation, ensuring social and political order and safeguarding national sovereignty, the country promoted its image abroad, the PM said.

He informed constituents of the outcomes of the eighth session of the 13th National Assembly, which concluded in November.

In 2015, the Government would continue to improve the business climate in addition to reforming administrative formalities and striving to raise gross domestic product (GDP) growth to 6.2 per cent from the current 5.9 per cent, according to the PM. He cited goals such as perfecting legal and institutional systems, investing in infrastructure modernisation and improving human resources training.

The Government would also work harder to ensure social equality by improving social welfare policies, developing education and healthcare services and giving a "facelift" to rural areas, the PM said.

When it came to safeguarding sea and island sovereignty, he emphasised ensuring peace, stability, development, prosperity and the legitimate interests of each country.

Regarding outlets for farm produce, the PM said the Government had taken all necessary measures to expand markets for aquatic and agricultural products, pointing to recently signed free trade agreements as well as those under negotiation.

Businesses, scientists and farmers also needed to work harder to ensure product quality and thus competitive prices, he concluded.
