Pirates attacks VP ASPHALT 2
Pirates attacked the ship VP ASPHALT 2 off Singapore’s coast in the early morning of December 7 and a Vietnamese crewman Tran Duc Dat was shot in the forehead by the pirates.

The ship VP ASPHALT 2 the Vietnam Petroleum Transport Joint Stock Company with 16 people on board was carrying 2,300 tonnes of liquid asphalt from Singapore to the Go Dau port in Vietnam’s southern province of Dong Nai.

On December 7, the ship VP ASPHALT 2 was attacked by the pirates one hour after it left Singapore, according to the National Steering Committee for Search and Rescue.
The pirates reportedly tied the crew members and took away their belongings.
After the prirates left the ship, Tran Duc Dat was found serious injuried in the forehead and unconscious.
Shorly after receiving the information, the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre provided instructions on giving first aid to Dat.
A the same time the Vietnam Maritime Search and Rescue Coordination Centre asked the Singaporean search and rescue forces to send a helicopter to the scene to take the victim ashore for emergency treatment.
The agency also notified the ship’s owner of the incident and asked it to coordinate with Singaporean authorities to handle the case.
Tran Duc Dat was airlifted by a Singaporean rescue helicopter under the care of Singaporean doctors on Sunday after being shot in the forehead and lying in a coma in his room with a bloody wound, the centre said.
Dat was rushed to the nearest hospital but was pronounced dead soon as the head injury was too critical.
Fifteen other crew members on the VP ASPHALT 2 ship are safe, it said.
Currently, the VP Asphalt 2 returned to Singapore to report to relevant authorities about the attack.
