Pianist Dang Thai Son to return home for special concerts

Vietnam`s most famous pianist, People’s Artist Dang Thai Son will come back home to give concerts at Hanoi Opera House on March 9-10.
Son will perform the Symphony No. 8 in G Major Op. 88 by A. Dvorak, Ballade Op. 19 by Gabriel Faure and the Piano Concerto by Maurice Ravel in the French music night on the first day.
The artist will play piano masterpieces composed by F.Chopin in the last day with the participation of Japanese conductor Honna Tetsuji and artists of the Vietnam National Symphony Orchestra.
Studied in the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Russia, Dang Thai Son was awarded the First Prize and Gold Medal at the Tenth International Chopin Piano Competition in Warsaw in October 1980. He was also the first Asian pianist to win a top international competition.
The pianist has several performances on world’s renowned halls, such as as Lincoln Center in New York, Jordan Hall in Boston, Barbican Center in London, Salle Pleyel in Paris, Herculessaal in Munich, Musikverein in Vienna, Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Sydney Opera House, and Suntory Hall in Tokyo.
He has played with a number of world-class orchestras such as the Leningrad Philharmonic, Montreal Symphony Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Dresden Philharmonic, Warsaw National Philharmonic, Prague Symphony, Hungarian State Symphony, Moscow Philharmonic, Russian National Symphony, Vienna Chamber, Zurich Chamber, Royal Swedish Chamber and among.
He has performed with musical big names, Sir Neville Marriner, Pinchas Zukerman, Mariss Jansons, Ivan Fisher, Vladimir Spivakov, Dimitri Kitaenko, James Loughram, Jiri Belohlavek, Hiroyuki Iwaki, Ken-Ichiro Kobayashi, Pavel Kogan, Jerzy Maksymiuk, Sakari Oramo.
