The painting is part of the Leng Keng Heritage Project, launched by the Truc Bach Ward People's Committee. It also aims to commemorate the 70th anniversary of Hanoi's Liberation Day (October 10, 1954 - October 10, 2024).

Measuring 12 meters in length and 2.3 meters in height, the artwork reflects the indomitable spirit of Hanoi’s people and soldiers during the resistance against French colonialism, as well as their resilience and determination in rebuilding the nation after peace was restored.

The painting is divided into three parts. The first part, Resistance, vividly depicts Truc Bach in 1946, where the Yen Phu Power Plant was set on explosion to signal the beginning of the nationwide resistance war. It also captures the fierce street battles and evokes memories of the bravery and sacrifices of Hanoi’s people.

The second part, Reconstruction, portrays Truc Bach and Hanoi in the post-war era, highlighting the works on redevelopment and reconstruction after peace restoration.

The third part, Transformation, brings viewers to present-day Truc Bach Ward, showcasing its rapid socio-economic development.

From the bustling Dao Ngoc (Pearl Island) Night Market to the ambitious tram carriages project, the display recreates the cultural, historical heritage and the promising future of Ba Dinh District and the capital city of Hanoi.

The painting is expected to complete on October 2. The number of 60 artists symbolizes the 60 heroic days and nights of resistance against the French colonialists.

The panorama painting will be on display from October 5 to October 10, 2024, at the Dao Ngoc Night Market, offering a chance for Hanoi lovers to learn about the city’s history and culture through this unique form of community art.
