Over 4,700 emergency cases given aid due to fighting during Tet holiday

During the Tet holiday, check-ups and first aid were given to 45,960 patients while 31,453 others were sent to hospital and 2,900 underwent emergency surgeries, of which 48 were of traumatic brain injury.
The Health Ministry’s Medical Services Administration (under the Ministry of Health) reported that as of February 9 (the 5th day of Lunar New Year), up to 4,724 emergency cases were given aid due to fighting, accounting for 2.6% of the total receiving treatment nationwide.

More than half of them were hospitalized, with 14 deaths, 57% of them (2,677 cases) had to be hospitalized for treatment and follow-up.

The statistics show 110,498 patients under treatment at medical establishments nationwide in seven days off.

During the Tet holiday, check-ups and first aid were given to 45,960 patients while 31,453 others were sent to hospital and 2,900 underwent emergency surgeries, of which 48 were of traumatic brain injury.

As many as 3,842 babies were born during the holiday, doctors treated and discharged 18,667 patients from hospital, 1,059 turns of patients were transferred by hospitals’ ambulances. 

After seven days, 40,916 cases were hospitalized due to traffic accidents, accounting for 22.4% of the total, including 161 fatalities. 

Previously, in order to ensure the examination and treatment during 2019 Tet holiday, the Ministry of Health requested hospitals to ensure sufficient human resources, drugs, equipment and facilities to promptly handle emergencies in traffic accidents, poisoning and childbirth in Tet days.
