Over 1,400 people register to donate organs and tissue
"Joining Hands for Life" festival held in Hanoi on December 19 has set a new record in Vietnam, with more than 1,400 people registered to donate organs and tissue.

The Health Ministry's National Centre for Co-ordinating Human Organ Transplants and the Military Medical Institute jointly organised a festival themed "Joining Hands for Life" in Hanoi on December 19.
The event aims to raise community awareness of organ transplantation and donation.
More than 1,400 people have registered to donate organs and tissue, setting a new record in Vietnam at the festival while its goal was set to be 1,000 people.
The record showed a dramatic change in community awareness on the issue in Vietnam.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Viet Tien, Deputy Minister of Health said the spread of donating tissues and organs across the country is extremely significant.
Currently, tens of thousands of people in the country are in need of transplantation of tissues and organs to sustain lives, so the organ transplantation and donation is humane job for patients who are fighting for their lives with death, Tien added.
Speaking at the event, Prof. Dr. Do Quyet, Director of Military Medical Academy called on all people registrate tissue and organ donation to bring opportunities to save patients' lives, and register body donation to science for sustainable development of the country's medical background.
Director of National Centre for Co-ordinating Human Organ Transplants Trinh Hong Son said organ donation is a meaningful movement that will open more opportunities to live for thousands of patients with liver and kidney failure on donor waiting lists.
He stated that organ and tissue transplant cases from brain-dead people have created a sound direction and brought opportunities to live for many patients in recent years.
On the occasion, a ceremony to sign registering voluntarily to donate tissue and organs after death for humane aid took place.
