Opening the National Press Festival 2017

On March 17 morning, the Vietnam Journalists Association in collaboration with the Central Committee for Propaganda and Training, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, Hanoi People`s Committee held the opening ceremony of National Press Festival 2017, at the House of Journalists Association, Hanoi.
The ceremony saw the attendance of Politburo Member, Secretary of the Central Party Committee, Head of the Central Committee for Propaganda and Culture Vo Van Thuong; Former Politburo Member, former Hanoi Party Secretary Pham Quang Nghi; Member of the Central Party Committee, former Vice President Nguyen Thi Doan; Member of the Central Party Committee, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam; Member of the Central Party Committee, Head of Internal Affairs Central Phan Dinh Trac; Member of the Central Committee, Minister of Information and Communications Truong Minh Tuan, Chairman of Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Duc Chung, leaders, former leaders of ministries, branches in Hanoi.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Head of the National Press Festival 2017 Thuan Huu said: With the theme of "Vietnam's press to accompany the country's innovation", National Press Festival 2017 is the practical activity of the press and the mass media nationwide to continue bringing the Resolution of the XII National Party Congress into life and celebrating the country's achievements after 30 years of renovation and major events in 2017.

The National Press Festival 2017 is an occasion to celebrate the great achievements of the Vietnamese press, to promote the press products associated with the labor and creativity of journalists throughout the country. Especially, enhancing exchanges and meetings between journalists and the public, encouraging the press to perform their functions and tasks to meet the increasing information demand of the people. The Festival contributes to enhance the role, position and prestige of the Vietnam Journalists Association in social life in general.

Also at the ceremony, Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on behalf of the Government sent his wish to the National Press Festival 2017. Deputy Prime Minister emphasized: "We are pleased to see, with the admiration of the press. The Vietnam Journalists Association has been constantly developing rich and practical activities to promote the role of the press. National Press Festival 2017 is a very rich and cultural activity, adding to the richness and emulation achievements in the press."
