Opening "National Great Unity – Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" Week in Hanoi
The Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism opened the "National Great Unity – Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" Week 2015 at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism in Son Tay Town`s Dong Mo on the outskirt of Hanoi on November 15 night.
The programe is as part of activities to mark 85th traditional day of the Vietnam Fatherland Front.
The week is organised to celebrate Vietnam Cultural Heritage Day (November 23). The programme aims to strengthen the unity between all 54 Vietnamese ethnic groups and honour their diverse cultures.
The "National Great Unity – Vietnamese Cultural Heritage" Week 2015 takes place from November 15-23.
The highlight of the programme is the opening ceremony, followed by an art programme where some 280 artists showed performances that included themes of national solidarity, as well as tangible and intangible heritages across the country. It also featured folk tunes and dances staged by ethnic performers.
Also on November 15, a series of exhibitions displaying photos, documents and objects spotlighting the nation's great solidarity, a model of the Cai Rang floating market in the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho were held at the event.
During the week, traditional ceremonies and festivals will be re-enacted, such as the Le cau mua (praying for rain) ritual of the Kho Mu, AzaKooh festival (Praying for bumper crop) of Ta Oi; the wedding ceremony of San Chay and the hair-washing festival of the Thai.
The week will also include a photo exhibition to showcase peoples' lives, natural landscapes, and their cultural heritages.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Nguyen Thien Nhan, a Politburo member and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, noted that national solidarity was an important tradition and has been continuously strengthened and developed to become a valuable cultural heritage of the Vietnamese people.
He expressed his hope that Vietnamese people as well as compatriots living abroad will continue to enhance national solidarity, strengthen unity bloc, dedicate strength, take opportunities, and solve challenges for the goal of "Prosperous people and strong, democratic, fair and civilized country".
About 150 representatives from 54 ethnic groups from 8 localities across the country partipated in the week.
