Vietnamese people in Ukraine have been evacuated from the war zone like Kyiv, Odesa, and Kharkiv and out of Ukraine in different ways with the support of diplomatic missions in Ukraine and neighboring countries and organizations, MoFA Spokesperson Le Thi Thu Hang said in a statement.

So far, about 400 people have fled to Moldova and are on their way to Romania, 140 others have arrived in Poland and are now in Warsaw, 70 people have arrived in Romania, 33 are now in Slovakia, and 30 others in Hungary, Hang said.

The Vietnamese diplomatic missions in Ukraine and neighboring countries continue updating information through citizen protection hotlines to give Vietnamese expats timely assistance, Hang said, adding that her ministry will update at the end of the day the number of Vietnamese people evacuated from the conflict zone and sent to other countries as well as their necessities.

To evacuate citizens from Ukraine, three Vietnamese airlines namely the national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines, Bamboo Airways, and Vietjet are conducting their repatriation plans under the request of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The Russia's special military operation in Ukraine has entered the 8th day. The United Nations General Assembly on March 2 approved a resolution to demand Russia to withdraw troops from Ukraine.

The delegations of high-ranking Russian and Ukrainian officials held the first round of talks at the Belarus-Russia border on February 28 and the second round is scheduled on March 2 (local time).

“Vietnam welcomes the ongoing dialogue between the Ukrainian and Russian delegations and hopes the parties will soon find a long-standing peaceful solution for their differences in accordance with international law, taking into account legitimate rights and interests of stakeholders, ensuring the safety and essential needs of the people, protecting essential infrastructure regulated in international humanitarian law,” Hang emphasized.
