Speaking at Tien Giang Specialised High School in the South, Vice Chairwoman of the National Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan urged the school management to promote research and innovation in science and technology.
She encouraged the exemplary role model to discover talents while building a contingent of qualified teachers, setting a bright example for students to follow.
On the occasion, the senior legislator donated 5,000 notebooks, 200 handbags and one television to the school.
The same day, Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Uong Chu Luu and Deputy Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Vinh Hien attended the opening ceremony of the new school year in Bac Kan high school in the North.
Luu said the school should raise the quality of education and training, and constantly renew methods of teaching and learning, with a focus on enhancing students’ foreign language and computing capabilities.
Founded in August 2003, the school now has 13 classes accommodating 416 students, with half of them coming from ethnic minority groups.
At the opening ceremony of the new school year at Thai Binh Specialised High School, Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai praised the school’s outstanding achievements over the past 26 years.
He said the school should build a comprehensive and healthy learning environment to stimulate students’ creativity and critical thinking, so as to support the Ministry of Education and Training’s education reform efforts.
Deputy PM Hai also gave a projector worth VND56 million to the school.
