The requirement is part of the regulations on managing foreign students studying in Viet Nam, which have been recently issued by the Ministry of Education and Training and will come into effect on April 11, 2014.
The students, including those studying at all educational institutions, are required to update their information annually or when there are any changes.
Together with meeting conditions on knowledge, health, age and profile, the students are required to own degrees which are equivalent to educational levels in Viet Nam, as well as acquire equivalent Vietnamese proficiency.
If the Vietnamese proficiency does not meet requirements, the students have to join Vietnamese courses, which last within one year. They have to pass the Vietnamese examination after finishing the course to get the language certificate and study the official curriculum.
Regulations on age are in accordance with agreements signed between Viet Nam and other countries, territories and international organizations. Age limitations are not applied to other self-paying and sponsored students.
