New Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam is greeted
Umeda Kunio has been appointed as Japan’s new ambassador to Vietnam at a cabinet meeting on October 21.

Umeda Kunio, 62, graduate of Kyoto University’s Faculty of Law, served as Chief of the Asian Division and Head of the International Cooperation Bureau under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). The Hiroshima native was named Japanese ambassador to Brazil in January 2014.
He hoped to further forge bilateral ties, particularly links between the Communist Party of Vietnam and Japanese parties.
Japan will help Vietnam in developing high-quality infrastructure, the supporting industry and agriculture; adapting to climate change; improving public administrative management and the business climate; and in training human resources, the ambassador said.
He suggested the two nations enhance coordination in regional and global issues. The diplomat expects Vietnam and Japan to hold more delegation visits and people-to-people exchanges.
