Nearly 1,500 people to join final round of Hanoi running tournament
The sport event bears significant political and social meanings as Hanoi is celebrating the 65th anniversary of the Capital’s Liberation Day (October 10) and 20th anniversary of UNESCO recognition of “City for Peace”.
As many as 1,500 professional and amateur athletes, representatives from embassies, international organizations, universities and districts in Hanoi will participate in the final round of the annual Hanoimoi Newspaper Open Running Tournament for Peace this weekend.
According to the organizing board, the final of the 46th holding of the tournament will kick off at 7 am on September 29 at Ly Thai To Garden. The race will take place around Hoan Kiem Lake.
Some 200 delegates who are leaders of Hanoi’s municipal bodies will also take part in the race in its first leg of the race.
