Nearly 13 billion VND spent to preserve 10 antique houses in Duong Lam village

Hanoi will spend 12.939 billion VND to repair 10 antique houses dating back 100 to 400 years in Duong Lam village on the outskirts of the city.
According to the Hanoi People's Committee, 10 village houses in Son Tay town will be repaired from 2016-2018, while also making efforts to restore their original value.
Duong Lam is an ancient village that has a history dating back about 1,200 years, with many houses as old as 400 years.
The antique homes were constructed from laterite bricks. Each house features a row of rooms and a tiled roof in the shape of a dragon or kylin. The entrances are made of ironwood and employ typical northern Vietnamese aesthetics.

The total investment of the project is expected to worth 12.939 billion VND. The city will spend 800 million VND into each house.
At the ceremony held in November to mark the 10th anniversary of Duong Lam village's antique houses recognized as a national architectural monument, People's Committee of Son Tay town affirmed that, the locality will strive to Duong Lam ancient village become a national special monument in 2016, making efforts to be recognised by the UNESCO as a world cultural heritage.
In the past 10 years, after antique houses in Duong Lam village has been recognized as the national architectural monument, Son Tay town has focused on preserving and promoting values ​​of the monument and achieved many remarkable results.
