More than thousand join 2018 Hanoi Run for Children

This is the annual event to raise treatment funds for disadvantaged children with cancer and congenital heart diseases.
The 2018 Hanoi Run for Children kicked start in the capital on December 2, with over 1,000 runners.
The run is organized by the Vietnam – Canada Friendship Association in coordination with the Hanoi Union of Friendship Organization and the Canadian Embassy in Vietnam.

Speaking at the event, Canadian Ambassador to Vietnam Deborah Paul said that the event was part of activities to celebrate the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and Canada (August 21, 1973). It also shows the friendship between between people of Hanoi and Vietnam and Canada as well as international friends.
She emphasized that all children deserve a healthy life, and people can make a difference in the life of less privileged children by helping them to receive treatment and realize their dreams.
Several celebrities took part in this year’s run, including People’s Artist Le Khanh, singer Thai Thuy Linh, MC Phan Anh and singer Duc Tuan.

With over 1,000 runners, the 2018 Hanoi Run for Children raised more than 1.1 billion (US$47,300) for children. All the proceeds will be spent on supporting disadvantaged children with cancer and congenital heart diseases at the Vietnam National Children’s Hospital, the Hanoi Heart Hospital, and the Heartbeat Vietnam of VinaCapital Foundation.
In 2016, more than one thousand people participated in the Hanoi Run for Children in the Thong Nhat Park on December 11 and raised over VND1.5 billion (US$66,470) for cancer research and assisted treatment for underprivileged children with cancer and congenital heart diseases.
