More than 20 events to take place at the 2019 ASEAN Tourism Forum
The 2019 ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) with theme “ASEAN – The Power of One” will take place in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province.
Over 20 important events will be held during the 2019 ATF from January 14 to 18 in Ha Long city, Quang Ninh province, the organizing board announced at a press conference on January 9.
Major activities during the forum will include the 23rd ASEAN Tourism Ministers Meeting, the first ASEAN - China Tourism Ministers Meeting, the ASEAN - India Tourism Ministers Meeting, the 49th meeting of ASEAN National Tourism Organizations, the ASEAN Tourism Awards, among others. In addition, the ASEAN Tourism Forum on Travel Exchange (Travex) will also be held.
The ATF is a cooperative regional effort to promote the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) as one tourist destination. This annual event involves all the tourism industry sectors of the 10 member states of ASEAN: Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
This is the second time Vietnam hosts the ASEAN Tourism Forum, following the previous hosting in 2009. This year’s event is the best chance for Vietnam to improve its role and stature in regional tourism cooperation and introduce the country’s natural beauty and people to international friends.
The forum is expected to draw 477 foreign and domestic delegates, including tourism ministers, executives of national travel agents, international organizations and partners, high-end hotels and resorts, airlines, and the media both within and outside the region.
The 2019 Travex is a gathering place for international suppliers, customers and visitors. This is an ideal opportunity to promote tourism products. The fair with 346 shops is expected to attract 900 international participants, including 290 buyers and 610 sellers.
