More than 1,000 Vietnamese youths attends Global Volunteering Day 2018
As many as 1,000 Vietnamese youths and volunteers from 30 countries worldwide, social organisations and non-governmental organisations joined the Global Volunteering Day (GVD) 2018 event held in Hanoi.
The event was jointly held by the NGO Volunteers for Peace Vietnam (VPV) Club, the Embassy of Ireland in Hanoi and the Centre for Sustainable Development Studies (CSDS). The GVD has a diversity of activities and experiences for the youths, according to Irish Ambassador to Vietnam Cait Moran.
The event will become a large cultural and volunteer festival for those who love voluntary activities and want to discover different cultures in the world, she hoped.
Domestic and international volunteers shared their knowledge under the event’s theme “Inequality: In or Out”. An exhibition and a festival featuring various cultures along with their cuisine and music were held in the framework of the event.

In 2017, the GVD’s event focused on the sustainable development goals (SDGs) and represented the theme of “Active citizenship in Sustainable Development”. There were over 30 different countries represented at the event in the form of different countries cultural booths and visitors and volunteers got to experience a taste of the food, culture and history of these diverse countries. The volunteers also performed different dances and songs from their respective countries which ensured a fun and exciting atmosphere throughout the day.
