Mekong Delta Culture and Tourism Week kicks off in Hanoi
In response to the National Tourism Year 2016 held in Kien Giang province, Mekong Delta Culture and Tourism Week was organised on November 16 at the Vietnam Exhibition Centre for Culture and Arts (No 2 Hoa Lu street).
Deputy Prime Minister Vu Van Ninh attended the event.
The Mekong Delta Culture and Tourism Week aims to promote tourism potentials and honour the cultural heritage value, tourism characteristic of 13 provinces in the Mekong Delta region.
It is expected to contribute to investment attraction and socio-economic development of localities in the region.
The event makes an opportunity for localities to strengthen cooperation and experience exchanges with the organisations of culture and tourism.
The highlight of the week was the opening ceremony with an art performance featuring traditional singing and dancing originating from the Mekong Delta provinces.
Besides, the event will take place various attractive activities such as the exhibition "Colours of Culture and Tourism of the Mekong Delta" and an area introducing cultural identity, historical relics, landscapes, heritage sites of localities through photos, artifacts, art models and traditional art performances.
During the week, there will be other activities including a food festival and a workshop on "Preserving cultural heritage and tourism of the Mekong Delta".
The programme takes place until November 19.
