In a speech at a ceremony to present the insignia in Hanoi, Vice President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Don Tuan Phong hailed the Canadian diplomat's great efforts to augment cooperation between Vietnam and Canada across a variety of fields-politics and diplomacy, trade, economy, education and cross-cultural exchange.

He said David Devine has markedly contributed to deepening mutual understanding and reinforcing solidarity, friendship and collaboration between the Vietnamese and Canadian people and praised his charitable activities.

He hoped that David Devine will make more contributions to developing the bilateral relationship no matter what position he will hold. David Devine in turn said the insignia signifies the time-honoured friendship and cooperation between the VUFO and the Canada Embassy while displaying his belief that both sides will continue to foster people-to-people diplomacy in the time ahead.
