According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Hung, Deputy Director of the Vietnam Post and the Telecom Group (VNPT), the launch of the country's first satellite Vinasat 1 will be put off until April 10 instead of the proposed date of March 29.
Mr. Hung explained that the delay is necessary to ensure a successful launch.
At present, VNPT has finished outlining the proposal related to the exploitation and use of this satellite for business purposes, which will be submitted to the Government and the relevant authorities for consideration and approval.
Accordingly, from 2008 organizations and agencies nationwide that need the services offered by the satellite will be given easy access to them. The use of Vinasat 1 will help improve the country's telecommunication network and help save around US$ 15 million per year from the hiring of satellites.
