Japan supports Hanoi's pupils learning through musical instruments

Yamaha Corporation and a sales subsidiary in Vietnam, Yamaha Music Vietnam Co. Ltd, holds “Yamaha Recorder Festival” which around 200 students of Primary and Secondary schools at Hanoi in Vietnam,on 15th May at Vietnam National Academy of Music, Hanoi.
Yamaha has been spreading the merits of learning music through playing instruments to many schools in various countries and regions.
In Vietnam, no “Course of Study” is provided in the primary and secondary schools for teaching pupils to actually learn to play musical instruments. The music subject currently provides four contents; singing, general knowledge of music, music theory, and solfege.
Yamaha, in cooperation with Vietnam’s Ministry of Education and Training, began to provide support for the instrumental musical education in January 2016, with an eye to the revisions in the Course of Study for primary and secondary schools that are scheduled in 2018.
Now Yamaha approaches popularization of “Recorder Club Activity” to experience instrumental education in extra-curriculum in three cities in Vietnam including Hanoi, from 2018 this activity will be expanded to nationwide.
Recently, Yamaha’s initiatives were selected as a certified project of “EDU-Port Japan,” the “Public-Private Initiative to Disseminate Japanese-Style Education Overseas” of Japan’s Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT). As a result, it is now possible to move forward with these education initiatives with the support of MEXT.
“Yamaha Recorder Festival” is held as an opportunity for schools to perform their performance for audiences, around 200 students from 10 primary and secondary schools in Hanoi performs with Recorder for audiences like their parents, officials from Ministry and so on. Each school will perform 2 songs and also play Japanese and Vietnamese songs together.
Through holding this event, Yamaha would like to provide an opportunity to Vietnamese children to know the enjoyment of playing music together as same as splendor of instrumental music education to educator in Vietnam
