Int'l contestants join Hanoi Open Mathematics Competition
HOMC 2019 aims to keep promoting the learning movement, especially maths in Vietnamese youth, and hope to discover mathematical talents of Vietnam and the world.
Up to 14 delegations from Indonesia, Malaysia, China, Nepal, Philippines, Hungary, Iran, Myanmar, Poland, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Vietnam are joining the Hanoi Open Mathematics Competition 2019 (HOMC 2019), which opened on April 3.
The competition is co-organized by the Hanoi Department of Education and Training and the Hanoi Mathematics Association at Hanoi– Amsterdam gifted school, and runs till April 5.
Addressing the opening ceremony, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Chu Xuan Dung, head of the HOMC 2019’s organizing committee, said that with experience from the first HOMC in 2018 with the participation of international contestants, Hanoi city has prepared the best conditions for this year's event.

An increase in the number of participating teams shows the influence of the competition over the years.
Candidates attending the HOMC are divided into two groups: Junior (8th and 9th grade) and Senior (10th grade). Candidates are required to solve maths in English.
The international teams will compete in Table A. Each of the capital and city is registered as a contesting team, each team consists of one Junior team and one Senior team, each team has at most six students. Table A has a total of 146 contestants (78 Junior candidates and 68 Senior candidates).
Table B is for candidates from 24 provinces and cities of Vietnam, from junior high schools, high schools and high schools specialized in universities. Table B has a total of 511 contestants (262 Junior candidates and 249 Senior candidates).
Particularly, 26 out of 30 districts, towns and 17 high schools in Hanoi join HOMC 2019.
