A number of tourism products have been implemented based on the local advantages in terms of historical, cultural and landscape values, towards developing high quality products associated with building the capital city’s tourism brand.

The city has also collaborated with embassies and international organizations to promote tourism, while actively participating in international tourism fairs. Notably, Hanoi is planning to advertise its tourism on the CNN television channel, in an effort to bring Hanoi tourism to many other countries around the world. The local tourism sector will continue upgrading facilities and build synchronized technical infrastructure aiming to boost tourism and tourism services, including the development of telecom and IT networks.

Hanoi’s leading tourist sources were China, the Republic of Korea, Japan, Australia, France, the United States, Germany and Thailand. If domestic holidaymakers were included, Hanoi welcomed more than 18 million visitors in the first ten months of this year, earning nearly 50.7 trillion VND (2.27 billion USD) in revenue.

In the recent time, the city’s tourism markets have been expanded, with international arrivals from 160 countries and territories. Hanoi has been a destination of around 40 percent of foreign tourists to Vietnam.

In addition, Hanoi is trying its best efforts to diversify its tourism products and services based on its advantages and potential, including culture tourism, MICE, eco-tourism and farm stay. Particularly, cultural tourism is now a strength of the capital city with tours of historical sites, the Old Quarter, French architectures, museums, craft villages and traditional art forms.

The Capital has been developing a number of new tourism products focused on exploiting the city's cultural and historical values. Hanoi has also focused on improving tourism infrastructure. It boasts 72 hotels from three to five stars with 9,844 rooms. Promotion activities have been implemented in order to introduce tourists to a friendly and appealing Hanoi.
