India can support Hanoi in energy savings

Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee Nguyen Duc Chung congratulated newly-appointed Ambassador and wished that Mr. Parvathaneni Harish, on his new position, will become a bridge to promote the strategic partnership relations between Hanoi and New Delhi as well as India and Vietnam.
He also expressed his hope that Indian enterprises will expand investment, technology transfer in Hanoi, especially in the fields of renewable energy, tourism, culture. City leaders are developing a plan to use energy-saving lamp in the area and a scheme using solar batteries for works in suburban areas and waste-to-energy technology, he added.
For his part, Indian Ambassador appreciated the flourishing relation and cooperation between the two countries and two cities in various fields in recent time. Especially, after the visiting of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Viet Nam in September, the bilateral ties between two counties have been upgraded to comprehensive strategic partnership.
The Ambassador also expressed his sincere thanks to city leaders for their supporting and creating favorable conditions for Indian Embassy’s activities in Ha Noi, such as Yoga Festival and Workshop on energy saving and using energy-efficient lighting. He expected that the Ha Noi People’s Committee would create favorable conditions for cooperation projects between Ha Noi and India in the time to come.
On the occasion, the Chairman of Hanoi People’s Committee informed the Ambassador about the city’s socio-economic situations in 2016, with gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate to reach 8.03 percent – the highest over the past six years. Hanoi has just opened more pedestrian zones in Sword Lake and its nearby areas. Chairman Chung invited culture and art troupes from India to perform there and strengthen cultural exchanges.
Impressed by the achievements of Hanoi Capital in 2016, Ambassador Parvathaneni Harish also agreed with the city leaders' request. According to Harish, 2017 is the time of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Vietnam. The event will open up opportunities for more extensive cooperation in culture, society and economy between the two countries, the two Capitals, which expects to continue to receive the support of city leaders.
