Independence Day celebrations in Hanoi with a series of cultural events

Visitors will enjoy a variety of cultural activities during the upcoming Independence Day celebrations in 2024.

Nearly 20 cultural and artistic events will be organized in the capital during the 2024 Independence Day, which falls from August 31 to September 3 this year, according to the Hanoi Department of Tourism.

The four-day holiday offers locals and visitors a full schedule of diverse cultural activities while enjoying the fresh Hanoi autumn climate.

Some of the highlights include the "Ao Dai Connecting Tourism with Hanoi Heritage" program, which will be held on September 1 at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel and several streets in Ba Dinh, Hoan Kiem, and Long Bien districts.

During the country's most important holiday, the Hanoi Department of Tourism and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum Management Board will provide some 28,000 free light meals consisting of water, milk, and snacks to local and foreign tourists visiting this iconic historic site.

The "Celebrating Independence Day" program at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism will run from August 31 to September 3, accompanied by numerous exhibitions, fairs and art performances throughout the city.

The "Network for Sustainable Production and Consumption of the Ceramics Industry Chain 2024" will run from August 29 to 31 at the Kim Lan Ceramics Museum - Kim Lan Tourism Site in Gia Lam District, on the outskirts of Hanoi.

The exhibition "Nghien But Con Thom" or "Ink Still Smells Fresh", will be held at the Temple of Literature in Dong Da District from August 31 to September 25. In addition, a free puppet show will be staged at the Thang Long Imperial Citadel from 9:30 to 10:30 am and from 3:00 to 4:00 pm on September 1 and 2.

The Wonderland Festival will last from August 31 to September 3, with the main events on September 1 and 2 at Bao Son Paradise Park in Hoai Duc District. The "Quintessence of Tonkin" program with a special fireworks display will be held on September 2 at Tuan Chau Beach Park in Quoc Oai District.

In addition, visitors will get free tickets for the Hanoi City Tour double-decker bus service from September 1 to 4.

Meanwhile, tourist attractions and pedestrian streets in the Old Quarter, Hoan Kiem District, Hanoi, will extend their operating hours from 7 pm to midnight daily from August 30 to September 3 during the Independence Day holiday.

Special art performances to celebrate the National Day will also be featured at open-air cultural centers in Thanh Oai, Me Linh, Thuong Tin, Nam Tu Liem and Hoan Kiem.  

Dang Huong Giang, Director of the Hanoi Tourism Department, said the department has asked relevant units to ensure well-organized activities, safety, and a joyful atmosphere for visitors during the holiday.
