Established by the Prime Minister in 1998, Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park is positioned to become a leading science city, excelling in the country's research and production of scientific products.

The transfer of Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park to Hanoi will result in the establishment of a new city directly under the capital, located in the western region, specifically designed to serve as a hub for science and technology activities.

The move was mentioned during a June 29 meeting to discuss plans to facilitate the transfer of management of the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park to Hanoi between Hanoi Party Committee Secretary Dinh Tien Dung and Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat.

Dung referred to Politburo Resolution No. 15, issued on May 5, 2022, which outlines plans to establish new city directly under the capital, specifically in the western region, including Hoa Lac and Xuan Mai areas.

The city will focus on science and technology, education and training, and the service sector.

"Such a strategic move is aimed at facilitating the future development of the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park after it is transferred to Hanoi," Dung said.

According to Dung, Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park has achieved significant milestones in the 25 years since its establishment, attracting over 100 investment projects with a total registered investment capital of about VND97 trillion (US$4.11 billion).

To facilitate the transfer of the Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park to Hanoi, the Prime Minister has designated the Ministry of Science and Technology as the lead agency responsible for coordinating with the Hanoi People's Committee.

Minister of Science and Technology Huynh Thanh Dat stressed his commitment to facilitate the transfer of Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park to Hanoi.
Dat said the government is finalizing a new decree with favorable policies to promote the development of hi-tech parks in various localities.
