Historic Milestone
The establishment of the ASEAN Community is a new milestone for ASEAN and Vietnam, ushering in a new era of national development, linking regional and international integration for ASEAN and Vietnam.
When talking about ASEAN Communities, Ambassador Tran Duc Mau, Deputy Chairman of the State Committee on Vietnamese people in foreign countries (Ministry of Foreign Affairs) has expressed that:Vietnam has been a new level of quality in the process of regional integration in particular and contribute to the development of ASEAN in general. ASEAN Communities returned to Vietnam many new development opportunities, but also many challenges both requiring Vietnam to make the most out of this historic shift, they must take advantage of the opportunity and advantage to overcome challenges.
Each new era requires a new orientation. ASEAN Communities create level of playing field for all ASEAN members in the development and economic competitiveness, trade and investment, labor and markets. This community is binding on all ASEAN members to responsibility to contribute to the common interests of the political security and social culture. The biggest challenge for all ASEAN members since this is to recognize their own interests in harmony with the common interests of ASEAN. Here expresses responsibility to each member not to do themselves or their partners that are harmful to other members and to ASEAN. Do not pass this challenge, ASEAN Communities cannot succeed on reality that exists nominally.
The challenge for Vietnam is self-transformation and outstanding efforts in order to "play well at home and away" the other members of ASEAN. This is not simple and easy at all. To overcome this challenge, Vietnam must have a new awareness and a new approach, to conduct more aggressive reforms in laws and institutions, must make policy adjustments, drastic macroeconomic management and implementation of uniform, effective. In Vietnam, will be the economic sector are impacted, even threatened, by common ASEAN Communities otherwise bear restructuring and adapting to the conditions and context of the new situation. But there will also be an economic sector with new opportunities to break themselves up both domestically and abroad. The big challenge for Vietnam is handled simultaneously both the trends.
The challenge for Vietnam in two remaining pillars of the ASEAN Communities and enormous general similar. Unable to get the Political Security ASEAN Communities when ASEAN members can not help effectively deal with security threats and security while still helping ASEAN members not to perform this task.
