Under the fact of complicated developments of Middle East respiratory syndrome corona virus (MERS-CoV), the Ministry of Health (MoH) held an urgent meeting to discuss solutions for preventing the epidemic from penetrating into Vietnam on June 2.
As reported by the World Health Organization, the RoK recorded 15 cases of MERS- CoV infections caused by coronavirus.
MERS-CoV has appeared in 26 countries around the world with 1,154 cases infected. The virus is considered to be dangerous virus like SARS caused in the RoK in 2003.
The virus is transmitted from person to person and has high risk of spreading in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Director of MoH’s Preventive Health Department Tran Dac Phu said the epidemic can infiltrate into Vietnam transmitted by passengers traveling from infected areas.
Therefore, MoH agencies and other ministries, sectors and localities will actively implement MERS- CoV prevention measures and keep a close watch on the cases for the early detection, diagnosis and timely treatment.
In particular, the MoH will focus on closely monitoring travellers coming from the affected areas like the RoK and the Middle East at international borders in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh.
