HCM City to host flower street in seven days during Tet holiday
Travel company Saigontourist won the bid to embellish Nguyen Hue Flower Street.
Nguyen Hue Flower street will take place for seven days from February 2 to 8, 2019 under the theme “Ho Chi Minh City aspires to reach out”. The event in welcoming the Lunar New Year will be held for the 16th consecutive year in 2019.
The Flower Street will cover 720 meters long Nguyen Hue walking street with different installation themes including City of Love, Smart City and Creative Town.
The Smart City space will showcase decorations of smart trees and robots while the Creative Town display Industry 4.0 technology.
In addition, the Nguyen Hue Flower Street Festival will feature a flower arrangement art exhibition and not only flowers, but vegetables and LED lights will also be used to decorate the streets.

Since its debut in 2004, Nguyen Hue Flower Street has become an indispensable event every Lunar New Year in Ho Chi Minh City, the nation’s largest economic hub. The event is said to fueling the city’s tourism growth.
In 2018, Nguyen Hue Flower Street Festival welcomed more than one million visitors during the seven-day Lunar New Year holiday, according to Saigontourist, the regular flower street organizer.
Earlier, Ho Chi Minh City has been ranked 5th among the 10 hot travel destinations which is expected to see the sharpest increase of tourists by 2025, according to a list released by TravelSupermarket, a travel deals website.
The survey was based on data from Euromonitor to find out just which major cities will see the fastest percentage growth in tourist arrivals by 2025.
The number of visitors to Ho Chi Minh City in the 11 months of 2018 was estimated at 6.8 million, a 19.6% increase from the same period last year, according to the Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Tourism.
