The Dong Da Mound is a relic of the country’s proud victory in the history of national defence.

A delegation of senior officials led by Hanoi Party Chief Dinh Tien Dung offered flowers and incense in tribute to King Quang Trung at the Dong Da Mound in Hanoi on February 5.

The incense offering ceremony was carried out in accordance with the norms of prevention and control of the Covid-19 pandemic.

At the event, city leaders planted trees at King Quang Trung Temple located at Dong Da Mound, a special national monument.

The anniversary falls on the fifth day of the lunar year, marking the battle between King Quang Trung’s troops and Chinese Qing invaders in spring 1789. The victory smashed the intention to occupy Vietnam of the Qing dynasty.

King Quang Trung (1753-1792), whose real name is Nguyen Hue reigned from 1788 until 1792. He was the architect of the Tay Son army’s blitz military operation from Phu Xuan (the central province of Hue) to the north to defeat Chinese Qing invaders and liberate Thang Long Citadel in 1789.
