It was announced at the recent meeting to review the implementation of the municipal Party Committee’s resolution 06 on socio-economic development in the mountainous ethnic communities of Hanoi.
According to a report presented at the meeting, Hanoi’s endeavours to lift 14 ethnic minority communes out of poverty have achieved positive outcomes.
The city is now home to more than 68,000 ethnic minority individuals, most of whom reside in 14 communes of the districts of Ba Vi, Thach That, Quoc Oai, My Duc and Chuong My.
In the past four years, Hanoi has prioritised resources for the effort, especially spending over 1.27 trillion VND on building 202 socio-economic infrastructure facilities, 92 billion VND on constructing 46 cultural centres and 101 billion VND on five power equipment upgrade projects.
All benefiting localities now have been equipped with irrigation systems. Many localities farm profitable industrial and crop plants and have established concentrated agricultural production areas. They also post an annual economic growth rate of more than 10 percent.
