Hanoi's Ang Phao carpentry village brings high economic effectiveness
There is a high demand for products of Ang Phao carpentry village in Cao Duong commune, Thanh Oai district, Hanoi city while some other craft villagers are facing many difficulties in consuming their products.
Five among 7 villages in the Cao Duong commune have traditional professions. Particularly, the commune's Ang Phao carpentry village is considered as the highest economic profession.
Mentioning Ang Phao, it is referred to its wooden-made-product techniques with sophisticated carving which produce such popular wooden products such as wardrobes, beds, tables, chairs, tea chests
But the most special product of the Ang Phao village is the ancient wooden house.
According to artisan Nguyen Van Quyet who has 40 years of participating in the work, all the details of any traditional timber house are elaborately and meticulous carved and made entirely of wood.
The construction of an old wooden house requires a lot of processes, lasting from 3-4 months, Quyet added.
The turnover of his family reachs over 20 billion VND per year, and his paying for salary amounted to over 2 billion VND.
Thanks to the village's prestige, products of Ang Phao carpentry village have been sold widely from north to south. Some high-end furniture products of the village have been present in Laos, Cambodia, thus bringing higher incomes for local labourers.
Vice Chairman of People's Committee of Cao Duong commune Tran The Anh said that carpentry profession has been strongly reviving in the area in past years, thus improving lives of local residents.
The village has 700 households, about 50% of which is joining the carpentry profession. Ang Phao village has about 30 large-scale production factories, attracting hundreds of local farmers with an average income from 5-6 million VND/month per person, even skilled labourers could earn about 400,000-500,000 VND per day.
At present, Cao Duong commune's Party and authorities pay atttention to investing and upgrading infrastructure to facilitate production and trading for local households.
Local production households have been also created conditions to access preferential loans.
In order to facilitate carpentry craft development in the coming time, the commune's authorities have planned a broad park covering an area of 3ha.
