Hanoi and Yunnan will continue to strengthen cooperation in various fields, contributing to the Vietnam-China relations in the new stage of development.

The view was shared at a meeting between the Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Council Nguyen Ngoc Tuan and Chairman of the Yunnan Province’s Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Liu Xiaokai on November 13.
During the meeting, Tuan expressed his delight as welcoming Liu and a delegation from Yunnan during their visit to Hanoi on the occasion of the 10th Economic Corridor Cooperation Conference of five Vietnamese and Chinese provinces and cities, hosted by the capital.
Liu expressed his sincere gratitude for the warm reception from Hanoi leaders, noting that leaders of Yunnan always welcome their counterparts from Hanoi to engage in collaborative endeavors.
Liu expressed the hope that through close ties and exchanges between the leaders of both sides, the friendship between the two localities would be strengthened in various aspects.
To further enhance the ties between Hanoi and Yunnan, Liu suggested that relations between relevant agencies and departments be continuously tightened. Specifically, Yunnan expressed its willingness and eagerness to collaborate with Hanoi in advancing economic cooperation in multiple areas, such as developing industrial parks, promoting e-commerce, facilitating cross-border logistics, and enhancing connectivity in the transportation sector.

Meanwhile, Tuan reiterated Vietnam's strong commitment to the profound historical ties between Vietnam and China, as articulated by President Ho Chi Minh, Chairman Mao Zedong, and their predecessors.
He added that China stands out as the only country in the world that embodies all the priority elements in Vietnam's foreign policy, including being a neighbor, a world power, a traditional friend, a comprehensive strategic partner, and a socialist country led by the Communist Party.
“Developing a stable, healthy, sustainable, and lasting relationship with China remains a consistent and strategic choice, as well as a top priority in Vietnam's foreign policy,” he added.
The successful visit of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to China has significantly boosted and inspired the development of bilateral relations, ushering the two countries into a new era characterized by enhanced trust, strengthened political ties, and deeper practical cooperation.
Following General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's visit, from September 25 to September 29, 2023, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Dinh Tien Dung visited China with the primary objective of operationalizing the "Vietnam-China Joint Statement on continuing to promote and deepen the Vietnam-China comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership."

At the same time, the visit aimed to effectively implement the Memorandum of Understanding between Hanoi and Beijing, establishing a new framework for local cooperation. The visit sought to reinforce friendly relations, exchange experiences, and devise solutions to challenges in the processes of construction and development. Additionally, it aimed to promote collaboration between Hanoi and Chinese localities with mutual interests and strengths.
Echoing the sentiments expressed by the President of the Yunnan Province’s Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Liu Xiaokai regarding the desire to enhance cooperation with Hanoi, Tuan reiterated Hanoi's commitment to further enhancing cooperation between the two sides.
Tuan noted tasks will be assigned to various departments, divisions, and branches of Hanoi to facilitate exchanges and cooperation, foster foreign affairs, and encourage people-to-people exchanges.
“This collective effort is aimed at nurturing and advancing the strong bond between the two countries and peoples in the time ahead,” he concluded.
