Hanoi welcomes nearly 260,000 visitors during New Year holiday
Hanoi’s revenue from travel services in three days of the New Year holiday is estimated at VND844 billion (US$36 million), a 13% increase from the same period last year.
Hanoi recevied nearly 260,000 visitors during three days of the New Year holiday from December 30, 2018 to January 1, 2019, up 10.6% compared to the same period last year, according to the municipal Department of Tourism.
Of the total visitors to Hanoi, 80,139 were foreigners, a 16,3% year-on-year increase and 173,000 were domestic holidaymakers, up 8% compared to last year’s comparable period.

During the three days, a range of art programs was organized in Hanoi at the Vietnam National Village for Ethnic Culture and Tourism, the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology and the West Lake Amusement Park, “Hello Festival 2019” at West Lake park, among others.
In 2018, Hanoi welcomed 5.74 million foreign visitors, marking a rise of 16% from 2017, thanks to lthe ocal government's efforts, according to Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Tourism Nguyen Anh Dung.
The total number of visitors, both from Vietnam and abroad, to Hanoi in 2018 is estimated at 26 million, a 9.3% increase from last year. In addition, tourism is calculated to earn for Hanoi more than VND75.8 trillion (US$3.26 billion) throughout the year, an year on year increase of 11.7%.
In 2019, Hanoi is expect to welcome 28.58 million holidaymakers, a 9.8% increase from 2018. Of the total visitors, 6.66 million will be foreigners, a 16% increase. In addition, Hanoi is expected to earn a revenue of VND84.78 trillion (US$ 3.64 billion) from travel services, an 11.8% increase from 2018.
